Morris Area High School's Kylen Running Hawk Honored At NFHS Convention

Kylen Running Hawk, a 2021 graduate of Morris Area High School, was recognized Tuesday as the national recipient of the Heart of the Arts Award from the National Federation of State High School Associations at its annual convention in Orlando, Florida.

Kylen was named the winner of the Minnesota Heart of the Arts Award in January and was notified of the national honor in March. The Heart of the Arts Award recognizes individuals who exemplify the positive ideals of performing arts that are the core mission of education-based participation in arts and activities.
Joined by his family, Kylen was a guest of honor at a breakfast Tuesday morning as well as an afternoon gathering of representatives from high school governing bodies in all 50 states. An NFHS-produced video told Kylen's story, and he received a standing ovation when the video ended.
